Show NO KING. BUT GOD. For freedom's cause long years ago, Our noble patriot's blood did flow; For freedom they did bleed and die. For freedom they did wounded lie. Was It n Bin for thorn to fight, To set at naught and powers hlght, To tear tho tyrant's robe of fame. And trample on his galling chain? Or was it ovll under heaven, That such pure blood as tholr's be given, To freo a nation then unborn. And set afloat fair freedom's form? Nay! Heaven Itself declared It right, Tho' scant in numbers, strong In might; God was their helper; he had said That freedom's flag should them o'er spread. And thus they set the nation free; Yea, crowned it with truo liberty. Then landed us sacred trust. Shall we e'er lay it In the dust? And thus allow a kingly hand To wield its power o'er this fall1 land. Or shall we Tclndly homage pay? Shall he control us day by day? Or shall his cruel finger tare Our flag ot freedom from the air? Or shall his footstops Jar the bed Where Bleeps our nation's honored dead? Shall boasted powers with royal name Drag Independence down to shame? Shall freedom o'er be Bet aside, And mocked by arrogance anfl prldoT Oh God f orbit 1 No-or can wo bo Servants In chains of tyrany; E'en now for freedom's glorious sake, Our nation's very heart doth quake; We'll recognize no king, but God; No monarch o'er shall stretch his rod Along this nation of the free, This land ot boasted liberty.
