Show HOMER HYDE I HAS VERY CLOSE CALLTO DEATH Snml Untik Cines la on Hjde l'ark School Trachcr Xour New Sugar Factory. Hyde Park, July 18. What came very near being a fatal ncctdent hap-1 penod to our popular school teacbor, R. Homer Hyde, last Friday aat the Amalgamated sugar factory, west of Smlthtleld. Mr. Hyde and another gentleman wore working In the sand when It caved In on them nnd completely com-pletely covered Mr. Hyde and partly covered his companion. Workmen wero soon digging them out, and while Mr. Hydo was covered but four and a half minutes, yo( he was unconscious for about two hours. Quite a largo gash was cut in his head when ono of his rescuers struck him with a shovol. Mr. Hydo and all hl3 friends are cry thankful that help was so near, and that ho was so soon rescued and his llfo saved. Another week and tho much needed need-ed rain did not como, nnd tho dry farm grain Is almost a failure I The building boom Is still on hore. , Hebcr Balls Is building a large hay and cow barn, and George Z. Lamb and Charles Balls are building nice little garages for their recently purchased pur-chased autoa. Georgo F. Ashcroft and Joseph B. Daines recently purchased cars. Several Sev-eral others of our prominent citizens are taking frequent rides with auto salesmen, andt that gonerally menns the purchaselng ot a car. While speaking of autos and auto drives, we wonder that there is not more accidents than there are. Many drivers do not' seem to have .much respect for others' rights, or the rules of the road. If each man would In passing another, slow down some, dim his lights so as to not blind his passer, and allow plenty of room to pass, there would doubtless bo fewer accidents. Mrs. Leland Ashcroft Is homo again after spending some tlmo In the Utah-Idaho hospital at Logan, where she underwont an operation. Samuel Seamons, who has been suffering for some tlmo with stomach stom-ach trouble, Is still qulto poorly. Word was recolved here last week that Wm. Gibson ot Franklin was suffering severely from cancer of tha stomach and was not expected to live. Mr. Gibson Is tho father of several of our best citizens and lived hore for many years. We had, as missionaries Sunday afternoon, Elders Hyrum Campbell and Alma M. Matheys, who gavo U3 some good advice and sound admonitions. admoni-tions. They warned us against tho sins of tho world and bore strongest testimonies of the divinity of the great latter-day work. Bishop Charles England was a visitor vis-itor here Sunday. Thousands of young fish recently planted In' Logan river, aro being carried down the canals here and out upon tho meadows and fields, where they soon die. Something Bhould bo dono, If posslblo, to prevent pre-vent It. . - |
