Show Mendon Musings. The Strenuous Life in the West Side Metropolis. Monday, the Pith, the Relief society anniversary was cclcbiated by the old folks. The had a Joyous time at the meeting house. No young people were allowed so the. old people had a time that only old people know how to have. On Decoration Day the stores were closed and everybody went to the cemetery to decorate the graves or their dear depailcd ones. Quite a number or line new stones aie noticed. Among these are those placed by Helen Walker, the ramlly or Hlshop Hughes, and Kliabcth Ilulsl. In the altcrnoon there was i ball game on Mendon grounds, Wcllsvlle and Men-don's Men-don's second nine engaging In the struggle. The score stood 14 to 10 In favor of Wellsville. Heniy lliblor, one of our old residents, resid-ents, aflera week's visit has gone to his home In Hexburg. Lottie Hanctt, Winnie Hardman, Kdlth Sorenson, Kmma and Olga Hcrnston aie visiting Mendon today. Jacob Sorenson Jr. has returned fiom his mission. He was absent twenty-eight months. Thursday evening even-ing Mamie Sorenson and Maud Gardener Gar-dener Invited over hair the town to spend the evening at .Jacob Sorenson's. The lawn wasbeautirully lighted with Chinese lanterns and the evening was spent in all kinds of amusements We aie sorry to state that Mr. Sorenson Soren-son Is not feeling very well on account of the change In the climate. Ills daughter Theta Is going to take lessons fiom Miss Lctlle Husby. That makes eight pianos and 30 organs In little Mendon. We may be behind In a gieat many things but we are certainly in the lead with music. We hae organized an orchestra heic now and can have music without sending out or town for It. The eighth guide pupils gave a pio-giam pio-giam In the meeting house Friday evening. Leroy Iteese, one or our teachcis, leaves on a mission next week. Kmei Richards Is exoectcd to teach here next winter. |
