The special Interest of thoso fishes llos In tho fact that their alliance Is with salt-water forms which exist In the neighboring sea, and not with fresh water llshes, as is tho caso with Am-lilyopsls Am-lilyopsls and Its alllos of tho great cavo of Kentucky. There can bo llttlo doubt that tho Cuban cavos In which tho blind fishes nro found wero form-orly form-orly In communication with tho sea, and that tho ancestors of these fishes ontcrod tho cavos from tho adjacent ocean.
