Show The Democrats. The Democrats, hoping against hope and flgh'tlng In despair, met at the court house last Saturday, and went through the formalities necessary to placing a ticket in the field. The slate had evidently been prepared, as It all went off like clock work and wjth scarcely a dissenting voice. There was a contest In the marshalshlp, but it was one-sided and went to one or that family which used to dictate when Democracy was the whole thing. The gathering at the court house did not representthe old-time Democratic Dem-ocratic strength, some of the delegations delega-tions not being filled. There was a lack of speech-making and enthusiasm and compared with the rousing, jubilating jubi-lating gathering of Republicans the njght before, It was more like a funeral. funer-al. Chairman Wilson ofllclated ofcourse. F. K. Nebeker and F. W. Crockett were made temporary chairman and secretary and later made up tho permanent per-manent organization, with Mrs. G. W. Thatcher vice-chairman; B. M. Lewis, chaplain; Gcorgo Adams, sergeant-at arms. The Democrats reversed the methods me-thods or tho Republicans and proceeded proceed-ed to name their mayor first. At the signal that nominations were In order Mr. Jed Blair, the old Democratic war horse and particular friend of Mr. Jos. Morrell, nearly dislocated his spina) column In an effort to get on the Moor first, to place Anthon Anderson In nomination. Mr. S. A. Langton named Mr. Morrell. At this, Robert Anderson Ander-son thought It time to withdraw his father's name and a motion was mado tonomlnatpMr. JJorrell by acclamation. acclama-tion. Bro. Blair was game, however, and called for a ballot,. There was much'argument of the question, and HnanlyJed succumbed. Mr. Morrell was nominated by acclamation. For marshal, Mr. N. W. Kimball named L. 0. Farr. Christian Larsen named George I). McCulloch, and Joseph D. Eames was named by F. W. Crockett. It took but one ballot to decldo this contest, Farr receiving 44, Eames 20, McCulloch 7. Mrs. Ormsby was nominated for re-c6rder, re-c6rder, without a slngo dissenting voice.
