Show Hl LOGAN A CONVENTION CITY. aaaaaViiE !' ppppKK; : f) NVo have -nil read with Interest the HX newspaper accounts of the prepara- H, tlons that Salt Lake Is making for the aaaaLVw' ' "" aaakHaaaLaV entertainment of the crowds that will gather next week at the annual outing of the United Commercial Travelers and many have begun to wonder whether Logan cannot secure a repetition repeti-tion of thU celebration for Cache valley val-ley next year. It Is now three years since the Commercial Travelers met in our city. At that time they were much pleased with their reception, and we are now in a position to do as much and more than we did then. We have two excellent col I ego bands and a good city baud; we have ono of the largest auditoriums in the state: we have two artists, Professor Wright and Professor Fletcher, either of whom Is as capable as anyone In Salt Lake of getting up artistic floats and arranging a mammoth parade; and also we have an energetic and pushing Commercial club, understanding perfectly per-fectly how to organize' and carry out such a celebration. Our only weakness weak-ness Is In the line of hotels but, three years ago, through the hospitality of private citizens we were able to care for all our visitors and we certainly could do as much again. We have now more eating places than then and there is prospect of another flrst-class restaurant in the near future. It only remains for us to get the Commercial Travelers to come here next year and a little push on the part of the Commercial Com-mercial club and of Logan visitors to Salt Lake next week could easily secure se-cure us the desired convention. An influential commercial man was recently re-cently heard to remark that a large number of the Commercial Travelers would like to come again to Logan, that they are pleased with the city, that they have been well received here In the past and that they would prefer to come here rather than go south of Sale Lake. The state con-ventlonof con-ventlonof dentists at Ogden last week decided to meet In Lotran next June. It is practically settled that the Staj.e Teachers' association wlllf -convene with us next .lanuarjyanu If we can entertain over a, thousand teachers then we, can certainly do as much for thg, ctfiiimerclal men later. We have all the advantages that make for a good convention city and If all those who go to Salt Lake next week will talk loud and often of the beauties and advantages of Logan we have every reason to suppose that we may secure for our own city one of the most desirable of the conventions that meet in the state. |
