Show Hyrum News. HYRUM, June 0. Friday evening, June 12, the "swollest" ball of the fc season will bo given In. the dance pavilion pa-vilion under tho auspices of tha District Dis-trict School Alumni association. The committee has been busy during the past few days arranging for tho affair. Pragrams have bcon printed for tho occasion. The ball wll commence at , 0 o'clock and close at 12 without tho usual intermission, and during all this time refreshments will bo served fren. An j Invitation Is extended to all members or tho association and all their friends Last Friday there was considerable excitement created by announcement of a genuine horse race. An imported traveling horse was being offered for sale. The price asked was 93,000. T. W. Peterson thought he had a homo-raised homo-raised "sheep-camp" horse which could trot with the much-advertised imported traveler, and as a result bets were freely made In favor of the Imported Im-ported animal, In some cases 10 to 1. The race came off, and, lo, and behold, the "sheep-camp" horse proved an easy victor. They are still trying to sell the $3,000 horse but not In Hyrum. At the special meeting of the city council last Wednesday evening protests pro-tests against paving district No. 1 were heard. There were protests from only one-third of the entire district. The work of paving will bo pushed as rapidly ra-pidly us possible. Surveyor Schaub was over Saturday and commenced the work of surveying. He will furnish fur-nish the plans and specifications.
