Show Home Industry By It J. Halton Following a recent suggestion from Thk Rkpublican of the necessity of giving home Indust ry our best support H. J. Halton, formerly a resident or Logan, add now advertising manager for the 55. C. M. I. shoe and overall factories, was In Logan Monday and Indicated the possibilities of home Industry In-dustry by citing the material growth of the two Industries which he new represents. Both the shoe and overall over-all Industries of the '.. C. M.. I. were launched several years ago In a very humble way while today both factories factor-ies employ a large number of persons yearly, besides giving to the people an article the equal of any received from eastern or foreign factories. The shoe factory alone emplojs eighty people and a jear ago this month the factory turned out 400 pairs of .shoes dally. In 1878 the overall over-all factory commenced operations with but three operators, while today sixty operators are employed and the faCg I tory has' a dally output of seventy dozen doz-en pairs or the famous "Mountaineer" overalls. Mr. Halton said that, right here, near our own city we have the nucleus for a splendid tannery that, If fostered, will furnish employment for a large number of our own town people and keep money at home. I, had thoroughly tested the product of the Logan Glove and Tanning company, and declared' that Its leather.after lasting and crimping, does not crack In the slightest degree. The shoes made from this leather he Is willing to compare with any similar sim-ilar priced shoe manufactured leather. It Is said that but very few people In Cache county arc wearing them, |
