Show May Make Big District McCarrey Urges Commis-; sioners to Consolidate. The County Commissioners in session Monday discussed various matters of considerable public concern. It whs decided to change boundaries of school districts dis-tricts to section lines rather than leave the boundaries irregular as they now are. The Benson district, dis-trict, which desires to bo slightly enlarged, was referred for investigation. inves-tigation. Ilivcrsidc and Smith-Held Smith-Held district boundaries were changed to the satisfaction of both. Lewiston protested vigorously vigor-ously agninst any change. With the crooked boundaries of today the county has been unable to assess from 60 to 100 acres in each section, hence the desirability desirabil-ity of n change. Superintendent McCarrey is working for a consolidation of all districts nnd is meeting with tho encouragement of most of the progressive people This greatly needed change will be brought about before long. Deputy assessors were appointed appoint-ed as follows, with compensation of $2.50 per day actual work: Thomas Irvine, Logan; Fred Whittle, Richmond; James Mci-kle", Mci-kle", Jr., Smithflekl; K. W. Shipley, Ship-ley, Paradise; Joseph K. Jeppe-son, Jeppe-son, Millville; Peter Lnrsen, Jr., Meiulon; Thomas Godfrey, Clurk-ston. Clurk-ston. Maps and plats of the county arc to be secured before long. The law provides that cities and towns shall file plats with the county recorder, but only Richmond Rich-mond has filed maps thus far. The commissioners propose to lriok into the matter. 1 The commissioners appointed O. R. Ashcroft constable at Ilydo Park and Oliver Peterson road supervisor at Peterboro. Neils R. Broby, fruit tree inspector,, in-spector,, was granted mileage to Salt Lake to attend the coming gathering of horticulturists. Tho three Commissioners and James Mcikle and Samuel Oldham Old-ham will attend tho Trans-Missouri Dry Farm Congress at the expense of the county. |
