Show j Approves Walker. Quite recently Coach Walker, of the A. C, proposed that an all western conference be held annually at Salt Lake city, and the Idea seems to meet with the favor of those Interested In athletics. W. O. Rishel, sporting editor ed-itor of the Herald, commends the idea - warmly In the following: I "The possibilities of such a meet as ' ' an advertisement to Utah and Salt , Lake can hardly be conceived by the j average person. It would make this ; state the center of sohool athlotlcs west of the Missouri river, and when one stops to consider that there are ; thousands interested in each school r in this territory it gives some idea of '. tho interest there would be in a meet j of this magnitude. i "The schools of Utah should get to- gether on this proposition and push It 1, through. They should and probably ') could without any trouble secure the I co-operation of the Commercial Club t of Salt' Lake, tho governor of tho state and mayor of tho city. While i there is much talk going on of making ) Salt Lake a convention city, hero Is a ', meeting of athlotcs that would bring j as many people tcTtho city as tho av- erago convention and give tho city ' much greater publicity. All lb needs is a little push on tho part of those at the head of tho athletic associations j of tho big schools of tho state and without question the necessary funds could bo secured to push the proposl- tlon to a successful end," |
