Show General Surgeon locates in Cedar f I ?(X (n 1 )A: ! ' : John C. Welch, M.D. has recently re-cently moved to Cedar City where, he has bcan a practice as a general surgeon to serve the entire southern Utah and eastern Nevada area. Dr. Welch has established a clinic at 70 East 200 South in Oedar City and expects to do surgery throughout the entire area. It is the first time that a general surgeon has been a-vallable a-vallable in this area. Dr. Welch is a native of Cowley, Wyo. where he received receiv-ed his early education and graduated from High School. He attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie, Wyo. for two years before being called on a three year mission for the LDS Church. He served in Japan. Jap-an. Following his mission he wa called to serve two years In the VS. Army where he was assigned as-signed with the Nike Missel Site near Buffalo, N.Y. He returned re-turned to the University of Wyoming where he received his bachelors in 1961. He received his MD degree from the Medical School of the University of Col-orado Col-orado and Interned at Gorges Hospital In the Panama Canal Zone. In I960 he returned to Wyoming Wy-oming to gi into general prac tice at Lovell for three years. From Lovell he returned to complete his surgical training as a Surgical Resident at Gorges Gorg-es Hospital, which he complet ed in July of this year. As a general surgeon, Dr. Welch will be working primarily primar-ily In a reference capacity with general practitioners in the area. The new surgeon ig married to the former Jane Fillerup of Lovell, Wyo. and they have nine children: Jill, 13; Jennifer, 10; Jeffery Curtis, 8; John Courtney, 7; Jacqueline, 5; James Camron, 16 months, and twin boys, Jason Cory and Joel Cary, 13 month old Bolivians, which they adopted. The newest addition to the family is Joseph Jos-eph Charles, who was born at the Valley View Medical Center Cent-er in Cedar City on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Active in the LDS Church Dr. Welch served as a Branch President In the Canal Zone and also on the District Council. Coun-cil. He has taught Sunday School and has been a music director. Mrs. Welch has received extensive ex-tensive training In modeling' and Is also active in color coordination. co-ordination.
