Show Fund raising event scheduled I by SUSC hoopsters The dates for Southern Utah I State's basketball trip to Haw-I Haw-I ail are fast approaching, and t so are a new round of fund j raising activities to enable the k Thunderbirds to make the trip. I No state funds will be used S to finance the trip; ail money i will be raised by college stu- dents (mostly members of the I team). I Sour dough pancakes, ham, I high school and SUSC basket-ball basket-ball Introductions, karate demonstrations, de-monstrations, and musical entertainment en-tertainment will be stirred together to-gether Monday In the next money raising project. The eating starts at 6 p.m. and continues through 7:30 p.m. I at the SUSC fieldhouse. i "Since Monday is tradition-I tradition-I ally a family night, we have i scaled our priori for the pan- cake supper to favor families I coming as a group," Stan Jack, SUSC basketball coach, said. I Cost of Monday's fesd will be i $150 per plate or $5 per family. ? After the dinner, Cedar High I School Coach Dick Hobbs will (introduce memb?rs of the 1 1973-74 CHS squad and explain some basic hlh school basket-I basket-I bail strategy. Coach Jack will also Introduce Intro-duce members of this season's Thunderblrd team. Musical entertainment and karate demonstrations will be included in the after-dinner activities. "We have raised about half of the $3,000 we will need to make the trip," Jack explained, "and we are hoping that our three or four remaining projects pro-jects will raise the other half. If we get a big turnout for our sour dough pancake and ham dinner, it will take some of the pressure off us in our final fund raising efforts." The first game in the Hawaii excursion will be November 23 at Honolulu against Chamin-ade Chamin-ade College. The two will also meet again the next night November 26 and 27 games against Hilo Branch of the University of Hawaii will conclude con-clude the four-game tour. Another major fund raising activity will come November 14 when an attractive basketball doubleheader is scheduled. In the first game, the SUSC varsity will meet one of the most promising Junior varsity teams ever to play for the T-Birds. T-Birds. Second game of the night will fi"ture a faculty team from SUSC (coached by Cleo Petty") battling a Chamber of Commerce sponsored team (to t co acted by Jim Hoyle). |
