Th'e major emphasis of the tour was Improvement of swimming facilities. Cedar City Recreation Director Di-rector Harold Shirley conducted the tour for the candidates and explained the recreation pro gram and its needs. The special spec-ial problems for new swimming facilities were described by the director and Councilman Arlo Larson. Hopes for a schoal-clty swimming complex were discussed dis-cussed with the candidates who are seeking election November 6th to city positions. Jones, Huskinson and Stratton organized organi-zed the tour as a means of obtaining ob-taining information. Councilman Council-man Larsen explained to the candidates that about $100,000 would be needed to renovate the present City Pool. The candidates have stated a part of their platform that they will seek to work with Iron County School officials to explore the possibility of a school-city swimming facility in the new Junior High School complex. Jones Is seeking election elec-tion as Mayor of Cedar City and Huskinson and Stratton are seeking Councilman positions. Municipal elections will be held next Tuesday, November 6th. |
