Show FIVE LIVES CLAIMED. This small aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from the Parowan Airport Thursday after a refueling stop. Five persons were killed in the crash. Five tilled in airplane i near Parowan Airport I PAROWAN - A pleasure trip intended to take three children to visit their father in Calif, ended in death for five people Thurs. when a small single engine plane crashed and burned taking off after a refueling stop at the Parowan Airport. Gusty winds were blowing in Parowan at the time of the crash and witnesses said the plane losl altitude rapidly, clipped fenct posts near a roadway and tore down a telephone line befon coming to rest with one wing still i in a power line. Immediately i upon impact the craft burst into t flames. ; Killed in the crash were ; Lawrence Kuebler 60, his wife ; Mary Kuebler 47 of Chula Vista Calif . Also killed were their three grandchildren David Kuebler 15, Daniel Kuebler, 12 and Linda Kuebler 10 all of Sedelia Colorado. Both grandparents were licensed pilots. Mr. Kuebler was reported to be at the controls when the craft went down. The crash took place at 2:05 p.m. less than a half mile southwest south-west of the Parowan Airport runway, telephone service was cut off in Beaver, Milford and Minersville by the torn phone wires. Deputy Sheriff Gordon Adams investigated the crash and reports that officials from FAA investigated the accident and could fine no evidence of mechanical failure. Airport Manager Bill Daileda reported that the small plane had plenty of altitude when it went past the hanger. Then lost altitude rapidly and crashed. The Parowan volunteer fire department depart-ment responded and was on the scene within a very short time to extinguish the fire. All five bodies were found inside the plane and were badly burned. |
