Show Merrill JlflacDonold to headup 5 County organization The Kane County Courthouse Court-house was the setting for the Steering Committee meeting of the Five County Association Associa-tion of Governments. Head ' ing the agenda of items to be discussed was the change in chairmanship from Commis. sioner James Yardley of Garfield Gar-field County to Commissioner Merrill MacDonald of Kane County, with the Vice-Chairmanship going to Washington County, effective February 1, 1974. The Mayors in each of the five counties will meet during dur-ing this month to select a mayorial representative from their county to represent them on the Steering Committee for the coming year. Legislation considered for the upcoming State Legisla-! Legisla-! tive Session was discussed, ' with the Steering Committee going on record as supporting the Land Use Act, such as it Is being amended to give more power on the local level in the planning processes. With regards to the Emergency Emer-gency Housing Allocation for our five county area, the counties coun-ties and cities are working to Identify worthy projects with-in with-in their areas as well as volunteer vol-unteer labor to help carry them out. Discussion about the proposed pro-posed Visitor's Center, South of St. George on 1 .15, was headed head-ed by Lee Fife, who explained that the management of this center may be turned over to the Advertising Committee of the Steering Committee. The Committee reviewed Law Enforcement requests for Kane Couny and St. George. Kane County has requested funds for completion of the rennovation of the Courthouse. St. George has requested Dispatching Dis-patching Personnel as well as equipment to update the Law Enforcement communications. |
