Show Jim Porter signs contract to coach at Cedar High Jim Porter of Delta was named the Football and Wrest, ling Coach for Cedar High School for the bpeinning of the 1974-75 school year Monday, Mon-day, it was announced by Dr. Clair Morris, superintendent of the Iron County School District. Porter accepted the terms of a contract to take over the coaching positions Monday after a period of time given him to get his other affairs in order. A coach with a high reputation, repu-tation, he has 15 years of ex t perience in athletics, 13 of them at Delta High School and the past two years as Athletic Director of the White Pines High School at Ely, Nev. As a football coach Porter took his Delta team to the Region Re-gion championship all but one of his years as coach. The Rablts, under his tutilage won the state football crown in 1966 and were runner up for the title in 1965. In wrestling he directed the Rabbits to 10 consecutive Region Re-gion Wrestling Crowns. They also won five state championships champion-ships and place second five times during that 10 year period. per-iod. Porter and his wife, Virginia have nine children and they are active in the LDS Church. The Porters will move to Cedar Ce-dar City during the summer planning to assume his new responsibilities in the fall |
