Show SUSC baseball team faces rough two weeks; BYU first on schedule batting .325 and leads the team in home runs (3) and RBI's (18). Righthander LaRonUnck (2-1, 1.20 ERA) and Jim Tillotson (1-1, 1.80 ERA) lead the T-Bird pitching pit-ching corps and both are slated to face BYU. the T-Birds will hit the road for seven days and the action begins in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, April 6, against UNLV. Fourteen games face the I Southern Utah State baseball team in the next 14 days and two of those games are scheduled for Saturday against Brigham Young University. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Municipal Field. , The T-Birds opened their 1976 season with a'l3-10 win over BYU in St. George. . Last week SUSC moved its record to 8-4 with a 17-5 victory over Dixie College. T-Bird batters slammed 16 hits including three by Kevin Christensen. Christensen had a single, double and three-run homer for the day. Ed Kristensen also laced a three-run shot in the contest. Freshman lefty Steve Newman picked up his first collegiate win with four innings of superb relief. He did not allow a hit and struck out five. Shortstop Brent Loveless continues to lead the T-Bird hitting attack with a .356 average. He also leads the squad in at bats (45), runs (14), hits (16), doubles (4) and total bases (26).
