Show Class Offered in Guitar A class in beginning and continuing folk guitar is being offered as part of the Southern Utah State College summer school program. The non-credit class is open to persons of all ages -beginning or advanced guitarists - who have their own Instruments. Class sessions will be held the first summer school session, June 13 - July 7, weekdays from 9 10 a.m., in the SUSC Music Building. Carolyn Young, an experienced ex-perienced guitarist who has taught folk guitar at SUSC several quarters, is the course instructor. Registration for summer school classes at SUSC will be held June 12 beginning at 8 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. All new students must complete an application ap-plication for admission prior to registration. This form can be obtained by con tacting the SUSC Admissions Ad-missions Office, Administration Ad-ministration Building. During the class, Mrs. Young said, beginning students will learn the major chords in the major keys and will learn guitar tablature. They will also learn a variety of folk strum and pick patterns. Continuing and intermediate in-termediate students will learn solo classical, blues, and advanced folk songs written either in tablature or musical notation. "All students will choose their individual areas of interest once basic skills have been mastered," Mrs. Young said. "During summer school is an ideal time for high school students to learn guitar as well as any other poeple who might be too busy during the regular school year," she said. |
