Show To re-evaluate policies At the request of the Iron County Planning Commission, the County Commissioner imposed a brief "delay" in the approval of any new subdivision after the two groups met this past week. "It is neither the purpose nor desire of the commission to bring undue hardship upon the developers," the commission said. "But the decision has been made in order to have a period of time to re-evaluate past policies of granting subdivision ap proval, to consider possible am-mendments am-mendments to the existing subdivision sub-division ordinance, and to carefully study the latest information on subsidence and flood prone areas." The commission made the announcement an-nouncement in a release to media signed by Commissioners H. Grant Seaman and James L. Clark, but without the signature of Cleo Wood. The two said they were moved to call the halt by the pressing awareness of the responsibility to prevent further growth in areas unsuitable "because of subsidence, flood or sewage problems." "The commission believes it in the best interest of taxpayers, as well as future homeowners to require that development be done in a manner that will minimize the risk to the investor and avert predictable complications," com-plications," they said. The delay will enable the commission com-mission to become better equipped to wisely decide in matters of county growth, they added, with a minimal inconvenience. |
