Ed Walunas stars as Tevye, the Jewish "Fiddler on the Roof," in the Dixie College production of the famed musical. Dixie College presents "Fiddleron the Roof" The Dixie College Theatre Production of "Fiddler on the Roof," well known Braodway and movie musical, will be presented in the Fine Arts Center Theatre on the Dixie College Campus, beginning February 16 and continuing through February 19, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for this musical play are available from 12 to 2 p.m. weekdays week-days at the Fine Arts Center Box Office, or patrons may call 673-4811 673-4811 for reservations. Tevye, a dairyman who lives in Tsarist Russia, and who, with his wife, Golde, is raising five daughters, is played by Ed Walunas from Parowan. Walunas performed in last season's musical theatre production of "All American" and "1776". Patrons will remember his performance as Ben Franklin in the latter musical. Golde, Tevye's wife, is played by Jeri Anderson from Sandy. Miss Anderson is a sister of two former Dixie College actors, Dee and Scott Anderson, who performed per-formed in several productions last year. Miss Anderson performed per-formed in "Flowers for Algernon" Alger-non" this fall. Tevye's daughters will be played by Karen Smith, Morgan; Maury Truman, Enterprise; En-terprise; Mace Pratt, St. George; Lesley Barlow, Glen-dale, Glen-dale, Calif.; and Zola Saunders, Murray. Tickets for the Dixie College Theatre production of the great musical "Fiddler on the Roof" will be available beginning February 8, at the Dixie College Fine Arts Center Box Office. Box Office hours are 12 noon to 2 p.m. weekdays, continueing through the run of the musical. Patrons may pick up tickets during these hours or may call Dixie College, 673-4811, for reservations. Dixie College Theatre Season Ticket holders already have reserved seats for the production. "Fiddler on the Roof" will be presented for the general public on February 16-19, at 8:30 P.M., in the Fine Arts Center Theatre. In experiencing "Fiddler," the audience member has an opportunity op-portunity to renew faith in a higher being who communicates with man. Tevye, a Jewish father, played by Ed Walunas, talks with God and expects an answer. Tevye's philosophy of life suggests that man stands shakily in his world "like a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck." Tevye's wife, Code, played by Jeri Anderson, shares her husbands capacity to endure, because of the traditions which help them keep their "balance." Patrons who have opportunity to see this play also will enjoy choreography, which is both traditional and original in its conception, and beautiful and moving songs such as "Tradition," the "Sabbath Prayer," and "Matchmaker." |
