Blair Bentley continued on his winning ways by taking first the past two weeks, the most recent victory coming at the expense of Panguitch High cross country runners. Distance Runners excell PAHOWAN - The Parowan Rams cross-country team traveled to Panguitch Thursday Sept. 15 for a dual meet with the Bobcats. The junior varsity ran first over a mile and a half course which was mostly downhill. Rams freshman, Scott Freeborn, placed second in a close race to the finish. Doug Hermansen, a talented 8th grader, placed 7th and Theron Roberts, a ninth grader, placed 9th for the Rams. In varsity competition the course was two miles mostly downhill and times were fast. Blair Bentley, a slim and tall junior won the event for the Rams with a 8:23 clocking. Close behind was teammate Stan Benson with a 8:35 time. Teammate Dean Roberts placed 4th after a gallant try for 3rd. A newcomer this year for the Rams, Tom Haycock, placed 8th. Studentbody President, Daryl Jones, just joined the team and ran 10th for the Ram Thinclads. Scott Adams rounded out the field for the Rams with a 12th place finish. ' |
