Show CLAUDE'S ommsmiA by Claude Orton After considering the political politi-cal part of my last week's column in this paper, I feel that we are hearing too much from the aspirants for the De-mocratc De-mocratc nomination for president presi-dent of these United States. They have already been yapping yap-ping at the citizenry of some of the states where nominating nominat-ing conventions or voting are .getting close. That they are ! talking to residents of those states may be right, but ow- ing to television, radio and i daily press, the residents of the entire nation have ringside ring-side seats. They have long since given up the idea of promoting thej things they stand for; they have run out of those things. They are now belittling, ridiculing ridi-culing and shouting forth the shortcomings of the other aspirants, as-pirants, and If they are as bad as the pictures they paint of each other, the Democratic party Is in a bad way. If those men are as bad as they are painted by their bedfellows, j let's not even consider putting any of them In the White House, let's retire them to private life. -A. a. i K K W We sure are getting Into a I predicament. The courts are turning all the murderers loose and those knotheads in Washington are going to take away our guns so we can't protect ourselves from these murderers. I wonder what the framers of the Constitution would think if they were here to see what is happening to that revered document. I I wonder what has become of Art Walunas, the congenial congen-ial manager of Brian Head Ski Resort. We sure have missed mis-sed him lately. Maybe he is in seclusion with the rain-or rain-or snowmakers, trying to cook up a little of the white stuff to keep the resort going. I did hear that he and a few of the boys up at the Ski Resort, Re-sort, have formed a basketball basket-ball team and are playing in the Parowan league. Wonder if they are planning to get into the ABA this coming season? sea-son? For the past several weeks the weather report has been much the same each day. On the Radio and TV each day, its the same old song: "partly cloudy today with more clouds tomorrow and next day, with a chance of a few showers." The sun continues to shine. Let's cnang'e the record' let's say "Today it will be clear, with sunshine and warm sunny sun-ny weather, to day, tomorrow, and from now on." Then maybe may-be we will get the storm we are beginning to be in need of. My garden is in just the right condition to be plowed, I I should have it done, but I am afraid my neighbors will think I am crazy, and I probably prob-ably am. The calendar says it is only March 1 and that winter is still with us. -a. a. n n Well I guess Parowan City and Paragonah Town have decided de-cided to work together, and to cooperate in taking care of Paragonah's power distribution distribu-tion system. Frank Dunton of the Paragonah Town board reports that on Thursday the Parowan power crew and its equipment came there and dug the holes and set about a dozen power poles in less than a half clay to help the towns power lines which are bardly in need of improvement. We are happy to see the two towns getting together in the work needing to be done. We also understand that the telephone company i3 adding new lines to that town's telephone system sys-tem to give better service, something they have been in need of, also. With the cost of equipment and labor nowadays, the time has come when smaller communities com-munities just can't afford to operate some utilities on their own, and we are happy to see these two communities getting get-ting together in a mutual way that will make it possible for both to hold onto their own power distribution systems. But we sometimes wonder if it i economically feasible to undertake this kind of a program, pro-gram, if you are not already in it. But if you have got it you had better keep In. |
