Show I LETTERS TO THE EDITOR " parent took his children to see a "G" rated movie he could rest assured that they would see only "G" rated previews. It is my sincere hope that the citizenery of this com-mnity com-mnity will support this policy and will express their desires to the management of the local lo-cal theatres. Thank you for your assistance. assist-ance. Sincerely KEITH J. ANDERSON 40 N. Western View Dr. Cedar City, Utah DEAR EDITOR: Last night my wife and I took our three oldest children (ages 3, 6, and 7) to a movie entitled "Wilderness Journey." This highly advertised "G" rated movie was ideal as a family film. However, before my children child-ren (or my wife and I, for that matter) could view this excellent ex-cellent movie from Alaska we were subjected to about 15 minutes of the most offensive, grotesque, .objectionable and ridiculous "previews" immag-inaible. immag-inaible. Apparently we in Cedar Ce-dar City will be given the opportunity op-portunity 0f viewing three "R" and "GP" rated movies during the remainder of this week. How they received such high ratings is beyond me! These three movies are "Lets Scare Jessica to Death," "Sudden Terror" and "Cat of Nine Tales". I was unable to keep an accurate accounting, but would guess that our children and my wife and I saw, during dur-ing those previews, at least 15 murders, several sex scenes and a dozen scenes depicting grotesque horror which is not only uneccessary, but which borders on the workings of a warped and sick mind. We are new residents in Cedar Ce-dar City. Apparently the theater thea-ter management here does not exercise the same professional and moral responsibility as was exercised by the management manage-ment of the theatres in the Ismail city from which we ca.me. In that city, which is the capital of the "rough and tumlble" last frontier, no previews pre-views were shown for movies rated lower than the feature being shown. Therefore, if a Dear Editor, This letter concerns our American flag. Many do not recognize it as part of our heritage now days. It has been descriminated against, burned and misused. Even in our own town we can see evidence of its mis-usage. mis-usage. Sunday, Feb. 27, two men, Tom Brenner and Jim Furco-low Furco-low from Los Angeles were in Cedar City skiing. They stopped stop-ped to look at our college and while walking through the campus at 6:00 p.m. saw that the American flag was still up. They felt very concerned about this and took it down and folded it up and put it ,in the ropes tightly so it wouldn't touch the ground. I feel that American citizens who think enough of the flag to take proper care of it should be recognized, and that is why I felt the need to write this letter. Annette Averett |
