Show Parowan resident, Birl Penney, 54, dies, rites Thursday Funeral services were held in the Parowan First-Second Ward chapel Thursday at 1 p. m. for Birl Penney, 54, of Parowan. Paro-wan. Mr. Penney died Tuesday at his home here of complications compli-cations following heart surgery sur-gery in a Salt Lake Hospital. Wm. C. Burt, of the Second Ward bishopric conducted trie services and the prelude and postlude music was furnished by Ernest Ahlborn. Speakers were Rupert S. Hulet Hu-let and Harvey Adams with closing remarks by Elder Burt. A son of the deceased, John Birl Penney, offered the family fam-ily prayer, and the invocation invoca-tion was by Ray Moms, the benediction was by Woodruff Pendleton, and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by Pres. Howard D. Knight. Musical numbers included an organ solo, "The Lord's Prayer," by Ernest Ahlborn, two numbers by the ward Relief Re-lief Society chorus, "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet", and "Oh My Father",, and a song "I Need Thee Every Hour", by a mixed quartet" made up of Mr. Ahlborn, Pres. Knight, Mary Dawn Dalton, and Bonnie Thornton.. Eleen Evans was accompanist for all numbers. Pallbearers were Theodore Penney, Thois Chattcrley, Jim Peterson, John Penney, Darwin Dar-win Penney and Wesley Blake, and the flowers were carried by the ladies of the ward Relief Re-lief Society. Mr. Penney was born July 2, 1917, at Kanosh, Utah to William Erza and Melissa Woolsey Penney. Married Jennie Jen-nie Tomasini, April 23, 1948, at Elko, Nev,, The marriage was later solemnized June 5, 1952 in the Salt Lake. LDS Temple, An active member of the church, he was a high priest in the Parowan Second Ward. He is survived by his widow, wi-dow, a daughter and a son: Mrs. Thois (Rosemary) Chat-terly, Chat-terly, Kanab, and John Birl, Parovvan; three grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Theodore, 'Canosh; Darwin R., Lander, Wyo.; Mrs. Jerome (Calia) Ivy, Provo and Mrs. Harv (Laran) Talbot, Ogden. The Penney family came to Parowan almost three years ago and the deceased has been a bus driver for Continental Conti-nental Trailways for almost 31 years. |
