Parowan wrestler wins place in State Mat meet in Vernal Keith Rollins, veteran wrestler wrest-ler at Parowan High School, and wrestling coach Don 01-sen, 01-sen, are leaving this, Thursday, Thurs-day, morning for Vernal, to attend the State Wrestling meet. Rollins, who won sec- ond place in the Region Eight meet last week at Delta, will represent the Parowan High School in the 98 pound division, divis-ion, with the meet to get under un-der way this afternoon, at the Uintah High School, host for the state mat classic. Rollins, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rollins of this city, met Symonds of Milford in the first round at the region reg-ion meet at Delta, and won by , , a decision. In the second " round Keith met Gurr of Bea-. . ver, and won again, this time by a 10 to 0 decision. ' In the championship round he met Cox of Delta for first and second place, and Keith lost for the first time, and came in second, which nev-ertheles nev-ertheles gave him a place in the state tourney. Other participants from our school didn't fare so well. Craig White, wrestling in the 105 pound weight met Whit-taker Whit-taker of Millard and lost and then Whittaker lost his next match which automatically eliminated Craig, Natonabah of Parowan fared , the same way, losing his first bout to Floyd of Delta and in the wrestle back round lst to a Hurricane boy. In the 138 pound weight, Jim Prince lost to Barnes, Mil-ford Mil-ford in the first round and in the third round, lost to Heaton of Kanab. At 145 Kenneth Bentley lost to DeLong of Cedar, who then lost to Wainkier of Delta and that wiped out Bentley. In the 155 pound weight, Tim Hyatt lost a decision to Yardley of Beaver Yardley of Milford and then the latter lost to Robinson of Delta which wiped out Hyatt. At 185, Joe Williamson met " Hanley of Milford and lost by a pin, and in the third round wrestle-back met Bennett of : Millard and was decisioned, but won fourth place which wasn't good enough to get in the state meet. Thus Parowan ended up in the last place in the scoring with nine points. |
