Show Zion Photo team takes lead in softball tourney Five games of the Cedar City Softball Association Invitational In-vitational Tournament were played Monday and Tuesday with Zion Photo, winner of the Cedar City League championship, cham-pionship, taking the lead in the race for the title. Zion took the measure of Iron County Lumber in the opening game by a score of 2 to 1. Then Tuesday night came back to take another 2 to 1 victory, this time from Ken's Beeline. Ken's Beeline won its opening open-ing battle, 6 to 2, over Bob's Chevron, and in spite of the loss to Zion Tuesday night remains re-mains in the double-elimination meet with a one and one record. In the final game Monday-night, Monday-night, the Pioche team pulled an upset, by beating the favored fav-ored Blackburn and Gower team, by a one-sided score of 12 to 0. Strong pitching and hitting by the Nevada crew completely dominated the game. In the other first round game, played Tuesday night, Enterprise took 'the measure of Mountain Bell by a score of 5 to 3 in a well-played game. Games ' played Wednesday night pitted Pioche against Enterprise, and Blackburn and Gower against Mountain Bell. The tournament will continue con-tinue through Thursday, Friday Fri-day and Saturday, with the championship to be; determined determin-ed and trophies awarded Saturday Sat-urday night. Games are being played "t the Lions Softball Field at the baseball complex at 200 East Street. Exciting games are assured in the remainder of the tournament, as most of them have been to date. |
