NEW SKI LIFT SITE. Clearing through timber on east side of Bear Flat at Brian Head is site for new ski lift now under construction, which will provide much longer, steeper and more interesting ski runs which should attract many more skiers to the area, i The Brian Head Ski Resort located near Cedar City is in the midst of a busy summer of expansion according to Bill Thompson, area manager. The area which has been . steadily growing since its establishment, es-tablishment, experienced its greatest increase in business last season and is expecting the biggest season of its hi tory this coming year. Construction began last week on 20 privately owned condominium apartments of which 18 are already sold. These apartments will be one and two bedroom units located locat-ed between the new chair lift and the existing chair lift on Navajo Mountain. The apartments should be finished finish-ed by the end of December and will be used year-around. It was also announced that the Robert C. Gebhardt Co. of Tahoe City, Calif, has been awarded the bid to construct the new double chair lift at Brian Head and that construction con-struction got underway this week. Completion of this lift is scheduled for November and will be used during the entire 19ti9-70 ski season. The lift is 5,600 ft. long with a 1,200 ft. vertical rise. It will open a new area with 7 different runs, 4 being classed intermediate and 3 as expert. Tiie runs will vary from l'i miles to 2',s miles in length. The new lilt is being built at a cott ofover U million dollars. j Thompson also stated that arrangements will be made to run the T-bar for the full season sea-son this coming year. The resort now boasts two double chair lifts and a T-bar servicing three different slopes and 16 di&eie-nt runs. I |
