Show Parowan Ram football squad opens play against Manti High here on Friday night j The opening football game of the season for Coach Low-! Low-! ell Caldwell's Parowan High j School Rams is set for this j Friday, Aug. 29 at 8 p. m. on i the Parowan field. This will ; be a practice encounter with j the Manti High School, and will give Coach Caldwell and ' his new assistant, Bill Farr, a j look at what they have to work with at the school this i year. j They will get another op-j op-j portunity to see how the squad j is progressing after a week of j practice the following Friday, j when they travel to Panaca, j Nev., to take on the Lincoln I County Lynx in another practice prac-tice game. This should give I the coaches a good chance to look over and iron out weak-i weak-i nesses prior to the opening of league play in the Class B division of Region Ten on Friday, Fri-day, Sept. 12. With a home and home schedule for the four teams, Parowan, Kanab, Beaver and MiUord, the Parowan Rams open league play at Milford on Sept. 12, in what will be a night game. The rest of the schedule is as follows: Friday, Sept. 19, Kanab at j Parowan at 8 p. m.; Friday, Sept. 20, Beaver at Parowan at 7 p. m.; Friday, Oct. 3, Parowan at Eeaver at 1:30 p. m.; Saturday, Oct. 11, Delta at Parowan in a practice tilt, set also for S p. m.; Thursday, Thurs-day, Oct. 10, Parowan at Kanab, Ka-nab, and the final game on Friday, Oct. 21 with Milford at Parowan with game time 2 p. m. After a week of hard scrimmage, scrim-mage, Coach Caldwell states that the following players are looking pretty good, with ihe following men in the back field: Rick Trimmer, Reed Rowley, Larry Pendleton, Kenny Adams, Rick Durbin and Tom Gurr. Linemen showing promise include, Kevin Robinson, Doug Robinson, John Dalley, Tom Adams, Ron Johnson, Jimmie Brown, Craig Rowley, John Penny, Robert Rasmussen, Rex Orton, Ralph Lister, Mike Mc-Kee Mc-Kee and LaMar Lister. While Caldwell hasn't called for freshmen practice as yet, three husky members of that class are working out with the varsity, joe Williamson, Chris Bentley and Wayne Decker. A few other members of last year's squad haven't reported for practice as yet, but may turn up this week. |
