PHS cheerleaders win honors at at Logan workshop School spirit should be at an all time high at Parowan High School during the athletic ath-letic season of 1909-70. The cheerleaders attended a workshop work-shop for Intermountain Cheerleaders, Cheer-leaders, held on the USU campus cam-pus at Logan two weeks ago and walked off with all the honors they could t-.i--ry, it is reported by their leader. They won the championship trophy for all around cheering cheer-ing excellence and a "spirit stick" to bring home some of the spirit which they felt there. In competition with almost al-most 300 other cheerleading teams the girls won the spirit slick in nightly competition and wore able to retain it by winning the trophy in final competition on Thursday. It is hard to say which is the most highly coveted, the trophy or the spirit stick, according ac-cording to Mrs. Leilani Bent-ley, Bent-ley, who accompanied the girls to Logan, but since they don't have to decide they can think they both are equally important. Judging was done on the basis of unity, performing perform-ing excellence of routines, and SPIRIT, of which these girls had plenty. Cheerleaders for the coming season are Lorraine Lor-raine Rowley, Kathy Sturde- 1 vant, Debra Evans and Col- j leen Heap. |
