So says Ron Smith, president of the chamber, who was happy to see the response at the meet ing. Guest speakers at the meeting meet-ing were Bill Loftdahl, a sales representative of National Advertising, Ad-vertising, which is a subsidiary subsid-iary of 3-M, which company, by the way is the world's leader lea-der in advertising research He had many slides and statistics sta-tistics to show concerning the giant industrry of "Tourism." Also present as a guest speaker was Ron McMillin, vice president of Travel utan, Inc. He went on to substantiate substan-tiate many of the ideas Mr. Loftdahl presented. The goal of Travel Utah is to make Tourism Utah's number one industry. Ron pointed out that Tourism is the industry without with-out smokestacks. It was made quite clear that tourism is a very desirable industry, simply simp-ly because it doesn't create any pollution and it doesn't move in on you. The tourists spend their money, which creates a better living for everyone; they return to their towns and cities to live. Following these two speakers, speak-ers, Art Walunas gave a progress pro-gress report on Brian Head, of which he is publicity head. A great deal of building is now in progras at the ski resort, to provide 90 additional guest rooms, and they will now have in the neighborhood of 1,000 beds available by skiing time this fall. They have also overcome over-come many of their obstacles, such as power, water and services serv-ices available, with only a sewer system remaining as a need. It should also be noted that Art and his children Ed and Anna, along with Gary Jensen, provided the entertainment enter-tainment for the evening, and Mr. Smith extends his thanks to them in behalf of teh Chamber Cham-ber and those present at the meeting. Smith, chamber president, was the concluding speaker, with his remarks centered around the subject of "how t we need to be unified to be I successful as a community." 1 The magic point being how we need a good combination of tourist trade and local trade for any business to succeed. I As chamber president Mr. Smith wishes to thank all of ; those who contributed to make the meeting the great success J that it was. Another meeting i will be scheduled in the very f near future, and will deal with j a matter which truly concerns every member of our town. j Time and place will be an 1 nounced soon. 1 ' i |
