This program seems to be the best possible program which can be outlined under the current financial limitations limita-tions of the district. Cedar City Ci-ty and Iron County have established a tradition of accomplishment ac-complishment in music and cultural activities. Ths cultural cultur-al tradition and heritage must be maintained and passed from generation to generation. The schools need the community's com-munity's support of the outlined out-lined music program and all other programs and projects which are designed to improve educational opportunities to the students and citizens of Iron County. By Dr. Joe Reidheod It has been necessary to reevaluate re-evaluate the current music progrom from elementary through high school in Cedar City. The current program requires re-quires teachers to be assigned to specific schools with a vocal vo-cal and instrumental teacher at Cedar High School, one teacher teaching vocal and instrumental in-strumental at the Junior High and a person teaching half-time half-time orchestra in the junior high and the elementary schools. The instrumental teacher at the high school has taught the elementary band program. This program was initiated two years ago on a trial basis to see if it would be better than using one teacher in several schools to teach in one area. Next year the district will return to the old program, with a vocal teacher spending half a day at the high school and half at the junior high. The band teacher will have the high school and junior high bands and the elementary elemen-tary beginning program. The orchestra teacher will have the high school and junior jun-ior high orchestras and the elementary beginning program. pro-gram. Summer music programs pro-grams will continue as usual. The change back to the spe-cialist spe-cialist type program requires some shift in other classes at the high school where music teachers have had assignments. assign-ments. outside the music area. The following assignment have been made. |
