Show High School music dept. presents final concert of year The music department of the Parowan High School presented pre-sented its final program ol the year, in the auditorium last Thursday night, with a large and appreciative audiences expressing ex-pressing its approval of the concert, conducted by Mr. Robert Ro-bert Potter, instructor. Participating in the program were the four principal musical musi-cal organizations at the school, one of which is a beginners be-ginners group from the Ele- mentary school, which did a very good job. The other three were the combined seventh and eighth grade band of 60 pieces, that won high honors at the junior jun-ior music festival at Fillmore a few weeks ago. The other two, the senior band and senior chorus, really outdid themselves in this final fi-nal concert of the year and also the final presentation under un-der the director of Mr. Potter. The 100-plus mixed chorus, with the boys in dark suits and the girl in formals, was a beautiful sight as they stood four deep across the front of the stage. And their singing matched their appearance. The 50-piece sr. band was equally as impressive in its presentation of its five num- hers. finH nil hrnnrrht a danA. ing ovation as the concert ended. A standing ovation also al-so went to Mr. Potter as the event came to an end. At this point the members of the music department, and audience stood as students, Miss Carol Ann Adams and Miss Mary Anne Evans, as their representatives, presented present-ed their music leader of the past several years .with a gift and plaque, bearing on inscription in-scription in his honor. Mr. Potter, in acknowledging acknowledg-ing the honors, stated that he is leaving with the end of the school year, to go to the Salt Lake area where he will become a music teacher in the Jordan District. He also plans to attend classes at the Brigham Young University. |
