CARROLL LEWRENCE Former resident has one person art exhibit in Wyoming Mrs. Albert E. Adams received re-ceived the following clipping from a Riverton, Wyo. newspaper news-paper which tells of Mrs. Adams daughter, Mrs. Carroll Lawrence, holding a one-person art show at Central Wyoming Wy-oming College in that city. Mrs. Lawrence and family are residents of Lander, Wyo. The clipping, in part is as follows: fol-lows: An unusual and highly varied var-ied show of paintings by Lander Lan-der artist, Mrs. Carroll Law- rence, was on display in the library at CWC during November. No-vember. There was something for everyone in this brightly colored show. Subjects included includ-ed still lifes of bottles, landscapes, land-scapes, animals; styles vary from abstracts, impressionist painting, a Neo-Pointilist (if such exists), to realistic, three dimensional, fantasy, and one that looks like a Saul Steinberg Stein-berg in color. All the traditional tradi-tional media and a few new ones were there. There were oils, vvatercolors, aciylics, pen-and-ink pastels, even driftwood drift-wood and burned wood enter into some of the compositions Mrs. Lawrence sums it all up, saying, "I paint almost anything." A serious painter for the last ten years since her children have grown up, Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence was mostly self-taught until she took a course from Nancy Simpson at the college in extended clay classes. Says Mrs. Simpson, "She's very talented." tal-ented." The Lcwrences moved to Lander about nine years ago from Cedar City. Since that time Mrs. Lawrence has been active in the Lander Artist's Association. She is a regular entrant in the Wind River Artists Ar-tists Guild shaws as well as the Fremont County shows, and she has received a num ber of awards. |
