O With the Elizabeth and Paulina Camps of the Daughters Daugh-ters of Pioneers, and the Little Lit-tle Salt Lake Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers all co-1 laborating, an all day pro- j gram of the observance of Parowan City's 120th birthday is being prepared. Also coop- j orating in the day's observance, observ-ance, which is Wednesday,' Jan. 13, is the Parowan High School and Parowan City is cooperating in making the observance ob-servance successful. The program for the day is being formulated under the direction of Mrs. ValRae Bryant. Bry-ant. Captain of the Elizabeth Camp, Mrs. Barbara Burt, past president of the Paulina Camp and Frank Mortensen vice president of the SUP chapter, in the absence of the president presi-dent Clifton Halterman, at present in a Salt Lake hospital. hospi-tal. According to Mrs. Bryant, the program for the day will consist of a Pioneer program, at 11 a. m., in the Parowan High School auditorium; a community luncheon or dinner din-ner at noon in the Third Ward Cultural Hall and then another an-other Pioneer program sponsored spon-sored by the SUP chapter at 2 p. m. in the Third Ward chapel. cha-pel. Mrs. Bryant also adds that arrangement have been made for some old-time dancing to follows the afternoon pro gram, in the cultural hall. The DUP camps, sponsors of the group luncheon to be , held at noon, urge are family groups in the ciiy as well as the area, to bring their lunch and become a part of a real old time group luncheon. The j sponsoring organizations will furnish lunch for all who attend at-tend who are 65 years of age and over, who will be their guests. The DUP ladies will also furnish a free drink to all family groups who attend the luncheon. The Sons of Utah Pioneers have charge of arranging the afternoon program, with Mr. Mortensen and his chapter members as sponsors. The ! numbers will be as follows: J Mayor Kendall O. Gurr has issued a proclamation, which appears on this page, calling for a half holiday on Jan. 13, to begin at noon and run for the rest of the day, in which he asks the town's citizens to join in the observance cf the city's birthday. And the sponsoring spon-soring organizations cordialy invite all former resident and 1 any persons interested to come and join in the day's estivi- ties. |
