Show Shakespearean Festival Guild support given Member enrollment in the Utah Shakespearean Festival Guild for the 1971 season has reached the half-way mark, reported Gust in O. Gooding, president of the Guild. The over 100 members now enrolled includes members from California, Nevada, Salt Lake City and many other communities throughout the State. But the bulk of the support sup-port of the Festival comes from local residents. "Supporters of the Festival join the Guild for one or more of three reasons, said Gooding. Good-ing. "First, there are those who are Shakespeare Buff3 who deeply admire his works and support and encourage, any production of his plays. Second are those who support any cultural activity . music, dancing, literature, dramatics, poetry . and encourage thej availability of these activities for themselves, their children,! i (Ccctinuai fca Fa?a 3. And third, are those who beliove tho Festival is an economic benefit to the community, drawing tourists and visitors and enhancing tho image of the community as a good place to live as well as visit." Membership in the Guild is accomplished by sending a check for $3.00 or more per person ($10.00 or more for Mr. and Mrs. listing) made out to the Festival Guild, to Box 646, Cedar City, Utah 84720. All contributions to the Guild go directly to the Festival. Fes-tival. The expenses of the Guild are paid by its officers. Contributions are tax-deductible since the Guild is incorporated incor-porated as a non-profit. organization. organ-ization. The money the Guild contributes con-tributes to the Festival helps pay for the food and lodging of the members of the Festival Festiv-al Company during the weeks of rehearsal and of the actual performances. These members are all outstanding students from drama schools and colleges col-leges and universities across the country. Names of all contributors are listed in the Festival Program Pro-gram and it is an inspiring thing to look at this list and see the wide-spread support of the Festival in its home community. And this local support in turn encourages foundations, corporations and other benefactors to give their support to the Festival. "While the half-way mark is a good place to be at this stage of enrollment", said Gooding, "there are still over 100 last year members and, hopefully, a large number of new members, who have not yet sent in their donations." |
