Show Veteran directors ready Shakespearean Festival . Britian, and voice with Gretel Davis, London. In London, Mr. Jamieson played Macduff in "Macbeth" and Vance in "Look Forth With Love," at the Curtain and Mercury Theatres. This past season he worked with the Hartford Stage Company and MeCarter theatre in Princeton, N.J. He received his BA from Kings College, MA from the U of Minnesota, and has completed his PhD at the University of Wisconsin. In 1963, his first season with the Festival, Mr. Jamie-son Jamie-son met the actress who was later to become his wife. Lynn Rudner Jamieson has returned return-ed to the Festival each year with her husband and this year is playing Kate in "Taming "Tam-ing of the Shrew" and Mistress Mis-tress Quickly in "King Henry IV, Part I." She has performed perform-ed major roles in previous productions of "Much Ado About Nothing," "Richard HI," "Merry Wives of Windsor" and "Twelfth Night." This year's season begins July 13 and ends August 7. The three directors selected to produce the tenth annual Utah Shakespearean Festival at Southern Utah State College Col-lege are all veterans of past Festival productions. Fred C. Adams, SUSC drama dra-ma director and founding producer pro-ducer of the Festival, is working work-ing with his first Festival rendition of "The Tempest," although he directed this play twice as a college production. pro-duction. His Shakespearean repertoire covers more than a dozen of the Bard's plays including in-cluding last year's presentation presenta-tion of "Richard III." the first history to be performed at the Festival. In the Festival's first year, 1962, Mr. Adams directed all three plays, "Hamlet," "Taming cf the Shrew" and "Merchant of Venice." Since that time he has directed 16 Festival plays. In addition to his Shakespearean Shake-spearean experience, Mr. Adams has directed and acted act-ed In numerous non-Shakespearean productions. He recently re-cently played the title rolp In the SUSC production of "Man of La Mancha," and in 1970 produced the first non-professional production of "Fiddler on the Roof." He received BA and MA degrees from Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University and before Joining the SUSC faculty fac-ulty was assistant director of the Hill Cumorah Pageant lie is currently serving as president presi-dent of the Utah Theatre Association. As-sociation. John M. El.ev, drama director direc-tor at Weber State College, is responsible for this year's presentation nf "Taming of the fchrew," whiah wiU be the Festival opener. Last season he directed "Twelfth Night" and was fencing and movement move-ment coach, duties with which he Is again assisting. At WSC, where ho has served as acting chairman of the drama department, Mr. Elzey directs, designs, and manages business affairs for the drama department. He has also taught at the University of Minnesota, winning the "Outstanding "Out-standing Director" award there in 1967. Several years ago he was associated with the Des Moines Community Theatre a.s technical director and designer. He Is presently vice president of the Rocky Mountain Theatre Conference. Mr. Elzey has played nearly near-ly 73 roles from Shakespeare to musical comedy, including film work for BYU, and television tele-vision commercials. Ho performed per-formed the role of Frank Butler But-ler in the South American touring company production of "Annie Get Your Gun" sponsored by the U.S. State Department. He received BFA and MFA degrees from the University of Utah ami i.s a candidate for, a PhD from the U of Minnesota. Richard Jamieson is returning return-ing to the Festival for his first season a a director after af-ter three seasons a an actor. He will direct the 1971 production pro-duction of "King Henry IV, Part I." His Festival roles have included Shy lock. Friar Lawrence, Falstaff, and the Duke of Buckingham.
