According to District Manager Man-ager Harold E. Isaacson, a good example of proper plan-' plan-' ning of off road vehicle use was the recent Hare Scramble near Enterprise sponsored by the Dixie Dirt Riders. The race course was carefully layed out by BLM Area Manager, Larry Maxfield and club members mem-bers prior to the event. Exisiting roads and fence lines wore used when possible and actually comprised about 90 percent of the 2 J mile loop. Cluh members returned after the event to clean up litter and reseed disturbed soils in the off-road areas. Isaacson commends the Dixie Dirt Riders Ride-rs for their excellent cooperation coopera-tion on this project. In the near future, BLM, will Identify areas wher off-road off-road vehicle travel will be permitted and areas closed from this use. BLM officials will hold public meetings to got recommendations on this matter. |
