Show Robert Tobler new coach at Parowan High Robert Wayne Tabler of Richfield was named basketball basket-ball and track coach at Parowan Paro-wan High following interviews conducted by the Iron County School Board Monday, Tabler, a native of Richfield hold a master's degree from Brigham ' Young ' University. The new coach has compiled an outstanding athletic career car-eer both at Richfield High School and BYU. At Richfield he lettered in basketball and track. In track he won the State 440 yard dash setting a new state record. While at BYU he won Ail-American honors. He won first place in the 440 yard dash in the NCAA competition and was a member mem-ber of the mile relay team that finished second. Twice he was a member of the BYU team that toured Europe and in both 1964 and 19G8 he participated par-ticipated in the Olympic trials. At BYU he established the schools hest time in the 440 at 45.9, a record that still stands and he was also a member of the mile1 relay team that holds the best BYU time, 3:08.6 minutes. Completing two years of military service he continued his track activities placing second in the 440 in the world military championships held at Athens, Greece. He was a member of the distance medley med-ley relay team that set a world wor-ld record at the Mt. Sac. Relays Re-lays in 1968. Tobler is married and has three children. |
