Show Lions Club Details Projects for Future The board of directors of the Parowan Lions Club met Monday night to draw up plans for a new group of projects to be undertaken undertak-en within the next few months, it is announced by Don Apple-gate, Apple-gate, club publicity chairman. The first of these projects, to get under way Immediately, is an Ice skating rink for the young people of the city. Provisions will be made for lighting the rink and fire barrels and fuel will be provided for heat for the skaters. The Lions will sponsor a Bantam Ban-tam basketball team in Parowan Paro-wan this winter, similar to such teams sponsored by organizations in other cities of the area. The program will include boys between be-tween the ages of 11 and 13 and David Orton has been named as coach of the team. The club will also sponsor a Christmas Lighting contest in the Parowan Valley towns again this year, similar to the one held last year. It will give prizes for the best lighting program for homes of the area, with details and rules to be announced next week, says Applegate. In connection wltn the club's safety program the Lion members mem-bers will sponsor in the immediate immed-iate future, a drive to encourage the use of safety belts in the automobiles au-tomobiles of all residents. The members will help with Installing Install-ing of the belts and sessions In car safety via this program will be stressed with lectures, etc. This program will start following follow-ing the next meeting of the club. |
