Show NEWCASTLE HEWS NOTES I By Norma Chris tensea The New Year was welcomed with a lot of enthusiasm around here. A dance was held In the Escalante Valley recreation hall New Year's Eve. Eight couples from town attended the dance. Charles and Shirley Hart held a party in their home that night for anyone who didn't attend the dance. Their party was still going when the danced out cou-1 pies returned to their homes.) Warren and Bea Piatt held a party In their home New Year's nist. A lovely luncheon was served after games and entertainment enter-tainment Mr. and Mrs. Caine Christen-sen Christen-sen and children, Lonnle and Vickie, visited with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Christensen, before returning to their home in Las Vegas. Nev. Vhey spent Christmas with some of their children in Enterprise. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Beach-am Beach-am and four youngsters of Salt Lake City, were guests last week at the home of their mother, Mrs. Effie Beacham and sister Fern. While here, Sherman and Grace had many get-togethers with their numerous friends. Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Hulct visited in town last week with their children and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Hulet reside in St. George during the winter months. Mr. and Mrs, Russel Christensen Christen-sen and four children visi.ed overnight In Leeds last weH with Katherlne's folks, Mr. and Mrs. David Stirling. Mrs. Harriet Jones received 'word last week of the death of her father, Israel Chamberlain of Kanab. Mr. and Mrs. Mont Sorenson and four children visited over the mountain last week with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Baldwin of Alton, and Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Sorenson of Ordervllle. Mrs. Iva Harrison and children Billy and Lyuia, traveled to pro-vo pro-vo last week to attend the funeral fu-neral for Iva's aunt, Mrs. J. Claud (Mazie) Knell. Mr. and Mrs. Knell were former residents of Newcastle. Mi. and Mrs. Warren Piatt and four children visited this week in New Harmony with Bea's father, fath-er, Low Prince, and other rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hulet and four children Journeyed to Mes-quite, Mes-quite, Nev., last week for a visit with Nita Rae's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rcber. A stake fireside was held in Enterprise Sunday night. This fireside was churchwide and was headed by President David X McKay. Those attending listened to a talk by President McKay |
