Show Parowan Plans Birthday Celebration The Elizabeth and Paulina Camps of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, have arranged a full day of activities for the observance observ-ance of Parowan City's birthday on Wednesday, Jan. 13, states the captains of the two camps, Mrs. May Benson and Mrs. Pearl Stevens. To begin the celebration of the city's 109th birthday, the Parowan Paro-wan chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, has been a&signed the job of presenting a pioneer program pro-gram at 10:30 Wednesday morning, morn-ing, which is to be held in the First-Second Ward chapel. At noon a group luncheon will be held in the same building to run from 12 noon to 1:30 p. m. Officers of the DUP camps urge all residents of the community to bring their lunches and mingle min-gle together during this hour as in the olHen times. Out-of-town visitors for the occasion are also urged to participate in this luncheon, for which the DUP groups will furnish free hot chocolate. , At 2 p, m. the festivities will resume In the chapel of the building, with a program to be given by the Parowan Literary Club. This program will begin with' the song "America the Beautiful" by a club chorus. An introductory talk will be given by Georgia B Mitchell, club president, pres-ident, and the opening prayer will be given by Harold Mitchell. A pioneer story will be given by Edna S. Hatch, after which the 12 couples In this community who have celebrated their gold- en wedding anniversaries during the past year will be honored In words and song, In an arrangement arrange-ment by Tae N. Benson. Next will be a reading by Ruth Boardman, with a duet number by Edna Brown and Ethel Bayles coming next. The program will end with congregational singing and benediction ben-ediction by A. Hills Orton. This will be followed by old time dancing in the recreation hall. The final event of the day will be the presentation of a play in the school auditorium that evening eve-ning at 8:30, with more information infor-mation on this play given In another an-other story on this page.
