Show Thomas C. Skougard Dies, Funeral Services on Saturday Funeral services for Thomas C. Skougard, 75, retired farmer and railroad worker were held Saturday, Satur-day, Aug. 7 in the Parowan Second Sec-ond Ward chapel at 11:30 a. m. Mr. Skougard died early Wednesday Wednes-day following a long illness. Bishop Rupert S. Hulet conducted conduct-ed the services and made brief opening remarks. Speakers were Mrs. Barbara M. Adams and Mario Mar-io Topham. Joseph E. .Ward offered the prayer at the home, Harvey Adams offered the invocation, the benediction was by Bishop George F. Rowley and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by Glen Halterman. Halter-man. The opening song, "That Beautiful Beau-tiful I.and," was rendered by a mixed quartet consisting of Arvilla Ar-villa Halterman, Anna Lyman, Carol Farnsworth, Berta Dalton, Clair Rowley, Robert Wilcock, J. Harold Mitchell and Rulan Dalton, Dal-ton, accompaied by Mary Lyman. Ola Robinson played a group of organ melodies, and a vocal solo was rendered by Mrs. Christine Wlnterrose. Pallbearers were Merrill Thornton, Thorn-ton, James Wadsworth, Dennis, Douglas and David Skougard and Tommy Dehm. Thomas Clarence Skougard was born Aug. 17, 1889 at Montrose, Mont-rose, Colo, to Martin and Clara Winn Skougard but had spent most of his life In Parowan where he engaged in farming and later was employed by the U. P. Railroad Co.. He was married to Henrietta Bentley on Dec. 15, 1909 at Parowan. Paro-wan. Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Bar-ta (Bar-ta Jean) Dehm, Huntington Park, Calif; 11 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. Also surviving surviv-ing him are a brother, Earl F. Skougard, Parowan; three sisters, Mrs. Christiana Benson, Parowan; Mrs. Maude Allen, Camas, Washington, Wash-ington, and Mrs. Laura Bressler, Victor, Idaho. |
