Show Traffic Accident Claims Life Of Geoioe Rhodes i Tlie second traffic fatality in Cedar City in the past 12 years occured Saturday night when C.core William Rhodes, 50, of Cedar Ce-dar City died following an auto-1 pedestrian accident near tne Hal Motel on South Main Street. I'hodes was struck by a car driven by Jay Slack, 32, of Cedar ! City, when lie stepped from behind be-hind a parked c;ir on the Kast side of Main Street near the mo- tel. at approximately 8:ir p. m. I He was taken to the Valley I View Medical Center for treatment treat-ment but died approximately four hours later, at 1 2 : 1 1 a. m. 'Sunday morning. According to the attending physician the victim vic-tim never regained conciousness. i Rhodes had been employed In the mining industry and was the father of 10 children. ' A member of the Catholic Church, a requiem Mass was held Wednesday morning at the Cedar City Catholic Church and burial was in the Cedar City cemetery. Tuesday evening and a Rosary was also held Tuesday. He was born April T, 1905, at Idaho Falls, Ida., a son of George Nathan and Ada McBrldc Rhodes. He married Minnie Jane Roberts June 25, 1925 at Modena, Iron County. He Is survived by his widow and five sons and five daughters: Wilber Gene. Alvin Ernest and William Eldon, Cedar City; George Nathan and James Wood, Fillmore; Mrs. Dean (Nancy) Smith. Cedar Fort, Utah County; Mrs. Rodney (Marie) Jones, Parowan; Paro-wan; Mrs. Kent (Joyce) Mun-ford; Mun-ford; Mrs. Richard (Karen) Barney, Bar-ney, and Miss Mary Joan Rhodes, all of Cedar City. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren. |
