Show T-BirdsLoseTo Nevada Southern, 77 to 66 i It was a familiar game of getting get-ting behind then never making up the lost ground. That's the description of the College of Southern Utah Nevada Ne-vada Southern basketball gamej played Saturday night In Las Vegas, Nev., In which the Rebels of NS defeated the Thunderbirds by a score of 77 to 66. The Rebels jumped out to a ' lead early in the first half of play and although the CSU T-, Birds rallied on several occasions occa-sions they could never quite make up the difference and were still behind at the final gun. I In spite of the loss Doug Pet-1 erson at the center post turned in one of his finest games of the season for the Thunderbirds as he tanked 16 points to lead the invading T-Birds in the contest. Bob Chambers, on the forward line, was also impressive with a 14 point output as well as 15 important rebounds to lead in that department. Mel Wads-worth Wads-worth had 13 points. Johnny Johnson. T-Bird leading scorer, found himself in foul trouble early in the game and ended up with just five points with Larry Dehlin, another of the regular guards tanking only one field goal for two points. On the guard line it was Glen Gray, who got the starting call Saturday that helped keep the T-Birds in the contest until the final gun. He served as the play-maker play-maker for the crew and ended up with 11 points of his own in tiie scoring column. Tapper of the Rebels led all scorers with 18 points with Dick hitting for 16. At intermission the T-Birds were trailing by 11 points 38 to 27. During the second half the T-Birds, led by Peterson, Gray and Chambers moved to within four points on several occasions and were trailing by only four with five minutes remaining when a Rebel rally again moved the Nevada Southern crew out of trouble.
