Show Administrative Openings In School District Announced Iron County School Board has announced that applications are now being accepted for the position posi-tion of assistant superintendent of the Iron County School system, sys-tem, assistant principal of the Cedar City High School and prln-cnnal prln-cnnal of the North Elementaiy. Both the assistant superintendent superinten-dent and assistant principal are new positions that have been created by the school board. The principal position will be vacated at the end of the present school term at which time Oscar Hulet will retire. In other matters considered by the board at the regular monthly meeting Monday, rentals of facilities fac-ilities of the new high school were tentatively set, a calendar for the 1964-65 school year, was adopted, a program of transportation transpor-tation for students to the new , high school was approved, planning plan-ning for a sprinkling system at the high school was set up, au- j thorization was given for two teachers to attend a NEA Workshop Work-shop and two delegations met with the board. Approv Rental Rates According to Ianthus W'lght, superintendent, the board approved ap-proved a program of rentals for the new high school in keeping with current rates and policies currently adopted by the College of Southern Utah. Many of the facilities are similar, It was pointed out. A brochure is now being prepared that will be available avail-able to the public, explaining rental costs for use of the facilities facili-ties such as the auditorium, gym. nasium, kitchen and dining areas. A program for transporting students stu-dents living within Cedar City, but in the areas to the extreme no ., was adopted. The program will utilize present bus facilities rather than establish new routes. Under the adopted program students in these areas will be authorized to board the Mldval-ley Mldval-ley Bus, No. 21, during Its stops at either the North or East Elementary. Ele-mentary. Lii-ewise students may ride the same ous back to those points following regular school each evening. Provisions had previously previ-ously been made for other students stu-dents living distances further than two miles away. School Calendar Calendar for the 1964-65 school year was adopted as follows: I Teacher Institute and Workshop August 27, 28 and 29. School opening: At 'gust 31. Labor Day vacation: Sept. 7. NEA Convention: October 8 & 9. Thanksgiving Vacation: Nov. 26 and 27. Christmas Vacation begins: Dec. 24. School resumes: January 4. Mid-winter Institute: Feb 13.' Spring Vacation: April 15 and 16 (Easter week end) School closes. May 28. Teacher Final reports: May 31, June 1 and Z. Two teachers to be selected from the association membership in the district were given authorization au-thorization by the board to attend at-tend a classroom teacher's conference con-ference at the NEA in Las Vegas, Nev., April 9-11. The board also authorized plans to be prepared In preparation prepara-tion for a call for bids on the installation of a sprinkling system sys-tem at the high school. It Is hoped that installation can be completed to facilitate planting early this spring. Hear Delegations A delegation representing the mining operation and utilities of Iron County met with the board, at the invitation of the board. Purpose of he meeting was to answer questions of the larger tax payer Institutions and to explain the policy of the dis-trie. dis-trie. Represenatives of the salary committee of the Iron County Ed- ucatlon Asii also met with the board to discuss various aspects ! of the salary schedule. Some minor changes were requested; I however, no action was taken by the board. |
