I Jay Wilson Casper, director of pupil personnel of the Iron Coun-, Coun-, tv School District, was featured sneaker. He ave a very thorough thor-ough discussion on the current foment evaluation program that Is being carried carried on in our school svstern at the present time. This Is something that this organization Is very much ptc,es'' In u ha ben bronf ht out before. And although this present etuv of the fourth, the I -iMronth and the ninth grades is 'not the comolete sturiv tht w had honed for. It Is a good start In the right direction, j It Is honed that ftr thl, evaluation eval-uation study Is completed on these students that a detailed report will be made .a to the effectiveness of It in bringing forth what our students know and are learning In our school system. A'w discussed at this meet-In meet-In was the action that Is being taken on the surveys of our present pres-ent school system teaching personnel, per-sonnel, and also one on those teachers who have left our district. A letter and a prepared form Is being completed to mail out ' to t';ese teachers. Of those teachers who have left our district, dis-trict, the question Is asked: "Why did you leave the Iron County School System" with such check points listed as: Marriage, low salary, lack of social opportunities, oppor-tunities, health, excessive teaching teach-ing toad, basic difficulties on discipline, dis-cipline, lack of parent coopers tlon, and many more along these lines. By this survey we hope to find the reasons why many teachers do leave our district, and take the necessary means to prevent this turnover of teachers. teach-ers. Iron County is the loser when a t' .cher leaves our school system. sys-tem. Every year a teacher Is active ac-tive he or she is gaining experience exper-ience and the "know how" of teaching well, and it is our loss when they leave us. For this reason rea-son we feel we must take steps to hold onto them as long as possible. The second form in this survey sur-vey which will be mailed to all of our present teaching staff in Iron County will ask such questions ques-tions as: Do you have satisfactory working work-ing conditions? Do von have sufficient working supplies? Do you have enough books? Do you have the parent cooperation coop-eration and Interest you would like? Do you have on excessive pupil-teacher ratio? Tiine aie iiuiiieruus OintM questions comparable to the above that will give an indication indica-tion as to conditions as they are with every teacher and every school room in our district. After the completion of these surveys, all Information will be arranged and published and passed pas-sed on to those In authority where action can be taken if it Is Justified. It Is the sincere wish of the officers of this Citizens Organization Organi-zation that we might have the support of all teachers, and parents par-ents and Interested people in this survey. If you have any suggestions sug-gestions or criticism to offer, your participation would be greatly appreciated by this group. It is hoped that yoj, the public, pub-lic, will make this organization a means of expressing your ideas and suggestions where appropriate approp-riate action through the proper channels may be taken. Officers of this organization met with the faculties of three of our Cedar City schools Monday Mon-day with a detailed report of the Intentions of this organization, and its purpose. After much discussion dis-cussion and questions answered It is hoped that the air has been cleared and that all school personnel per-sonnel will realize that we have organized to help them, not hinder hin-der them in teaching our children chil-dren so that they might be better bet-ter prepared to meet their Uvea ahead.
