Show Junior Legion Ball Club to Start Practice Sixty Junior American Legion Baseball teams in Utah will begin be-gin play around the first of June, according to information received by the Cedar City post from Neil L. Davis, department athletic chairman. Within the state, 11 leagues will compete in intra-district play, with district tit lists to be Determined by July 31. The Cedar City American Legion Le-gion post again will sponsor a team this year in cooperation with Thorley Motor Co., a Ford agency. First practice session for the Cedar City team has been called tor Monday, May 22, at 4:00 p m. according to coaches Alma Garrett and Frank Barreca. No word has been received yet from district officers on the schedule of games for the teams i In this area. To be eligible for play, boys must not have reached their 17th birthday prior to January 1 of this year. Over 40 boys, interested in the Legion program, attended a meeting in the Junior high school, Tuesday afternoon. Eligi-tility Eligi-tility rules and the program were explained to the young ball players, by LaVell Chamberlain, who is handling the schedule for tht: Cedar Legion post. Anyone interested in playing on the Junior Legion team is urged to contact either one of the coaches. |
