Show Army Offers Chance To Serve Near Home An unusual opportunity for local veterans to cash In on new benefits offered by the Regular Army without with-out leaving the Intermountaln area is contained In a directive made public today by First Lt. Ellis Clark of the Cedar City army recruiting office. Under terms of the directive men with prior service In any of the Armed forces may enlist for Initial assignment for a minimum period of one year to any understrength unit or Installation within the Sixth Army. This Is the opportunity opportuni-ty of choosing, before enlisting, any unit near home where these Is a vacancy. Of special Interest to local veterans veter-ans will be the range of position vacancies at Fort Douglas and Tooele Too-ele Arsenal. But vacancies also exist ex-ist at many places on the Pacific Coast. "The vacancies within this area include a wide occupational field," Lt. Clark said. "Such military occupational occu-pational specialities as X-ray technicians, tech-nicians, meat and dairy technicians, sign painters, powerhouse engineers and sheet metal workers are but a few.'
