Show Social And Cultural Sorority Installs Officers In New Local Chapter Fifteen pledges were Initiated Tuesday evening into Beta Sigma Phi, cultural and social sorority, at a candlelight ritualistic ceremony at the Escalante hotel. Mrs. S. M. Karnes from (he sorority's headquar-ters headquar-ters In Kansas City, Missouri, was In charge. Miss Marjorle Marsden was initiated init-iated as president of the Chapter, Just organized; Mrs. Mary Jane JL MRS. 8. M. KARNES Seaman, vice president; Miss Myrl Heywood, recording secretary; Miss Marie Baldwin, corespondlng secretary; secre-tary; and Mrs. L. C. Williamson, treasurer. Assisting with the ritual were Mrs. Melvln Cowley, their city sponsor. Mrs. S. M. Karnes was hostess at a formal dinner In honor of the newly pledged members. The new officers made Informal .speeches and Ruth Corry, accompanied accompan-ied by Mary Jane Seaman, sang two songs. It Ls the first chapter Installed In Cedar City and the 20th lit the State of Utah. The org'anjUatlon has 2:00 chapters in the United States, Canuda and Hawaii, with an active membership of 60,000 young women.
