Show Plans For City Recreation Park Nearing Completion Although final approval of detailed de-tailed plans for Cedar City's new recreation park East of town has delayed actual work on the park, assurance was given early this week that a baseball or softball diamond can be put Into shape for use this summer. lAttempts have been made for several years to develop a recreation recrea-tion area, and" particularly a ball park In the area East of Coal Creek, but refusal of city planners to let any development work be undertaken under-taken Until final detailed plans were completed has prevented any development of the park. Now, however, how-ever, steps have been taken to complete com-plete the plans and assurance Is given that work can start early In April. Leon Prehner, State Landscape Engineer of Salt Lake City has been retained to prepare over-all plans for the park area, locating driveways, parking areas, and designating de-signating areas for trees and shrubs etc. City engineer Jack Lowman, assisted assist-ed by the Branch Agricultural College Col-lege surveying class under Theron Ashcroft, are making detailed surveys sur-veys of the land, and as soon as this information Is placed In Mr. Preh-ner's Preh-ner's hands he will complete the plans for the recreation area, and work can start in Its development. He reports that these plans can be completed early In April . Poles and lighting fixtures are already In the ground for lighting the baseball diamond, and a number num-ber of civic groups In Cedar City has expressed a desire to assist with the park development as soon as the city planners will give the go ahead signal. |
